2. The showcase of advancement and technology can be easily appreciated with the work of the research 7 development department. During this year’s Motor Expo, Hyundai Motor Company has designated one of the most beautiful concept car for Thailand and that is Hyundai i-oniq which is also known as HED-8. The vehicle is electric powered but backed up by a 3-cylinder 1000 cc gasoline engine. With the 80 kw motor alone the car can travel up to 120 kilometers. It can go as far as 700 kilometers when combining electric power with gasoline power. The carbon dioxide emission is also kept at 45 gram per kilometer.
Other highlighted features of Hyundai i-oniq are also as follows:
- European design with cutting edge sportiness makes Hyundai i-oniq a hot “gull wing” hatchback. Another product of the advanced “Fluidic Sculpture Design” concept from Hyundai R&D center in Germany.
- Powered by an innovative 1,0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine generating a maximum of 45 kW (61 ps), this unit is mated to an 80 kW (109 ps) lithium-ion electric motor which is powered by a 55 kW generator, via a single ratio gearbox. In electric-only mode, i-oniq can travel 120 km (74 miles) and up to 700 km (435 miles) with the assistance on the petrol engine, emitting only 45 g/km of CO2 emissions. The concept can reach a top speed of 145 km/h.
