Nissan Thailand’s subsidiary, SNN Tools & Dies Co.,Ltd. wins JMA “GOOD FACTORY AWARD 2015”

Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd, a leading automotive company, today announced that one of its Thai subsidiaries, SNN Tools & Dies Co., Ltd., a stamping die and assembly equipment maker, has been awarded the Japan Management Association (JMA)’s prestigious “GOOD FACTORY AWARD” 2015 in recognition of its pioneering establishment of a Tooling Hub for Thailand and the region, and its overall excellence in Factory Management.

Established in 1989 as a wholly-owned Nissan subsidiary, SNN Tools & Dies Co., Ltd. supplies its products to the Renault-Nissan Alliance in 16 countries worldwide. This recognition of SNN Tools and Dies by the JMA demonstrates its key role in developing a major milestone for Thailand in becoming a regional hub for the automotive industry.

Mr. Kazutaka Nambu, President, Nissan Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd., congratulated SNN Tools & Dies’ management and every one of its over 400 employees for winning the JMA GOOD FACTORY AWARD. “To win this prestigious award is a major achievement recognizing your tremendous efforts and teamwork in continuously improving the quality of manufacturing and productivity based on the solid foundation of the “Nissan Way” of working and management. This promotes the commitment to achieving goals, driving progress and constantly assessing performance to develop a strategic direction for solutions. It is my great honour to celebrate this success with all of you at SNN Tools & Dies company”, said Mr. Nambu.

According to JMA, SNN Tools & Dies Co., Ltd is highly recognized for its “Nissan Way” of management which results in operational efficiency, excellent production quality and highest reliability to meet customers’ requested on-time delivery. The award is presented to SNN for its pioneering establishment of a “Tooling Partnership in Thailand (TPT)” in 2013 as a tooling hub consisting of 12 companies to create a strong collaboration with business partners and suppliers to enhance the production capability and strategically drive the manufacturing of stamping dies, fixtures and assembly equipment for the automotive businesses in Thailand and in the region.

Mr. Ueda Keiji, President of SNN Tools & Dies Co., Ltd., explained that “The key factor that contributes to the success of SNN Tools & Dies company is our dedication to the “Nissan Way” Mindsets and Actions and the establishment of a management plan to improve technological capability toward Nissan’s mid-term business plan (Nissan Power 88). A good example of this dedication was our achievement in 2010 in becoming the first factory in Thailand and the first in Nissan’s overseas tooling operations, to be able to make Stamping Die BODY SIDE Outer which is considered the most complicated part, requiring high levels of skill and advanced technology for production.”

Mr. Sompong Charusombat, Managing Director of SNN Tools and Dies Co., Ltd., further commented that “Motivated and passionate people are SNN’s greatest asset. We have carried out many internal communication activities and training programs for employee motivation such as constant meetings and briefing sessions to clearly communicate the corporate vision and targets for everyone to understand the same direction. The GOOD FACTORY AWARD ceremony will take place on October 19th, 2015 in Tokyo, Japan with the award-winning factories’ presentation on October 20th-21st, 2015 to promote the wide introduction of best practices to contribute to the development of the manufacturing industry in Japan and the Asia Region and its further structural improvement.
