Mazda launches major sports marketing campaign to highlight premium brand status

Introduction of SKYACTIV Technology Ambassador to reflect Mazda's global success

After huge success in the Thai automobile market last year, Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. is ready to become a Japanese premium brand in terms of both brand and product. Following huge investments to expand production and build engine and transmission plants in Thailand last year, Mazda is embarking on a sports marketing drive in 2016 with the first big surprise being the signing of Thailand's No.1 pro golfer Thongchai Jaidee as the first ever SKYACTIV Technology Ambassador.

Khun Thongchai's strong spirits and determination as well as the courage to be different reflect the same philosophy held by Mazda in achieving the success for the SKYACTIV technology.

Mr. Hidesuke Takesue, President of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said Mazda has given important to sports marketing all along. "We want to support Thai sports and help athletes we sponsor to become the national champions and eventually world champions. This year we will be sponsoring a football team that used to be a small regional team but today is a great team with the largest number of spectators in ASEAN – Nakhon Ratchasima Mazda FC (Swat Cats). This is the fourth year that Mazda is giving our support to the team. Another discipline that we will support is motorsports which will help promote Mazda's outstanding performance. This year the all-new Mazda2 will compete in the Thailand Super Series, which one of the major motorsports events in the country," he said

"Mazda wants to support Thai athletes to the world level and this year we will create history for Thai sports by offering sponsorship for the first time in golf. Thongchai Jaidee, the world-class golfer and Thailand No.1, will become the first SKYACTIV Technology Ambassador. Khun Thongchai's fighting spirit is reflective of the determination of the people at Mazda who helped create the SKYACTIV technology," he added.

Ltd., added, "Golf is a sport that requires high levels of skill and concentration throughout the competition, and the players need to have strong determination and mental strength in order to ensure success. That's why Mazda decided to tell our SKYACTIV success story through Khun Thongchai who will be our first SKYACTIV Technology Ambassador. He is not a sportsman with a large body, but his strong mental game, strategy and skill level has made him the world-class player he is today. This is comparable to the soul of the Mazda people and the Hiroshima people who gave birth to the Mazda brand and the SKYACTIV technology.
