Bangkok--16 Feb--AIS

AIS announced its 2016 full year result, recording Bt122,561mn of service revenue, an increase of 1.6% from previous year, and maintaining number one in voice and data services. Mobile subscribers reached 41mn. In Q4 of 2016, AIS 4G network expanded to cover 98% of populated areas, becoming the nation's largest 4G network. AIS has been acquiring world-class technologies to outperform its current quality of network and services in pursuit of Thailand's number one in digital life service provider.

Mr. Somchai Lertsutiwong, Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Info Service PLC (AIS) said "after receiving the licenses to operate on 1800 and 900 MHz spectrum in December 2015 and June 2016 respectively, AIS has been working on expanding 4G network to cover more than 98% of populated areas within one year. Non-voice revenue increased 20% YoY while usage went up to 3.6 GB from 2 GB/data sub/month. In 2017, AIS will maintain its leadership in data service through investment to increase 4G network efficiency, marketing campaign to promote sales of mobile phone, and acquisition on new contents and various applications to meet different demands from different customer segments. Revenue from voice call decreased 15% due to customers' preference to consuming data more than voice call.

Of the 41m AIS postpaid subscribers was 6.4 mn while prepaid was 34.6mn. The revenue increase was the result of network expansion which increased its coverage, capable of providing better customer experience with more packaged prices to choose. Video contents also played an important role in customer satisfaction, for instance, live broadcast on the 2016 Olympic Games and concerts by GMM artists. Customers enjoyed watching video contents via AIS PLAY application, making it possible to view live broadcast anytime and anywhere.

AIS Fibre showed a revenue increase of 616% from previous year. In Q4 alone, the number of customers grew to 106,500 subscribers mainly due to quality service, a variety of video contents and affordable prices. This year, AIS expects a revenue growth at 4-5% and target a gross revenue of 42-44% before tax interest and depreciation. AIS Fibre customers receive a maximum speed of 100/10 MB per second for a price of 990 baht while AIS Serenade customers pay only 899 baht for the same package. Currently, AIS Fibre has more than 300,000 subscribers covering 28 provinces with more than 5.2 million households. We continue to expand our business and build stronger operational foundation as well as promote a variety of premium vdo content with an aim to become a significant player in the next three years.

AIS is committed to create a long-term growth through a variety of innovative products and services that meet customer demands in digital society. Our business plans will also align with Thailand's roadmap and our vision to become a number one in digital life service provider." said by Mr.Somchai.
