Bangkok--28 Nov--Thaicom

Thaicom Public Company Limited, a leading Asian satellite operator, announced today that it has signed a 3-year renewal contract with TOT Public Company Limited (TOT), a leading telecommunications service provider in Thailand, to support TOT's mission to provide high-speed Internet service on a nationwide scale, especially in remote areas without terrestrial telecommunications infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Thaicom will continue to provide its high-speed satellite Internet service for 3 years (2017 - 2020) to support TOT's mission to provide connectivity for the general public, as well as customers in both government and private sectors.

Thaicom's broadband satellite—THAICOM 4, also known as IPSTAR 1—helps TOT to retain its existing satellite broadband customers, increase service quality, and expand its business—thus maintaining its position as a leading telecommunications service provider in Thailand.

Paiboon Panuwattanawong, CEO of Thaicom, said: "Thaicom is grateful for TOT to continually put their trust in us and allow Thaicom to support their mission. Satellite communications still are relevant for remote areas where terrestrial telecommunication networks are unavailable. Thaicom's reliable broadband satellite platform helps TOT to reduce operating costs, promote access to its services, and enhance the quality of telecommunications for voice, Internet and data services. The contract renewal is in line with Thaicom's strategy to utilize satellite communications to advance the telecommunication industry in Thailand."

Over the past 26 years, Thaicom has been committed to providing excellent satellite communications services to facilitate the growth of the telecommunications industry in the region, putting its businesses and people at the forefront of innovation and providing opportunities for growth. Thaicom's broadband satellite provides access to telecommunications in places that are not connected to terrestrial networks, as well as recovery of communication networks in times of disasters.
