The Japan Foundation, Bangkok presents “Japanese Film Festival 2008 — The Hidden Treasures of Japanese Cinema - Masterpieces from its Golden Age 1950’s — 60’s” from Friday 18th January — Friday 25th January 2008 at Grand EGV Siam Discovery Center 6th Floor.
This time we will introduce you to the ‘classic’ from the golden age of Japanese cinema which is during the 50’s and 60’s. Directors well known to Thai audiences in that period possibly are KUROSAWA Akira and OZU Yasujiro, but actually, there are a lot more talented directors who made many classic films still not internationally recognized. We would like to introduce some “hidden treasures” of Japanese cinema to Thai audiences by select 10 masterpieces of top-class directors that were filmed during 1950’s and 1960’s for this upcoming Japanese Film Festival, screening free of charge, as always.
