The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), together with Phatra Securities and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will organize the roadshow “Thai Investor Forum”, aiming to match nine Thai listed companies with foreign funds in London on October 10-11, to highlight second-half business plans of these firms and their 2013 prospects.

The companies joining in the trip are large-sized firms in the SET50 Index, with a combined market capitalization of THB 1.4 trillion (USD 45.16 billion), representing 17.36 percent of total market value. They are Bangchak Petroleum pcl (BCP), Central Pattana pcl (CPN), Charoen Pokphand pcl (CPF), Khon Kaen Sugar Industry pcl (KSL), Minor International pcl (MINT), PTT Exploration and Production pcl (PTTEP), PTT Global Chemical pcl (PTTGC), Thai Oil pcl (TOP), and Ticon Industrial Connection pcl (TICON).

“The roadshow will be led by Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sithipan, to present government policy on developing Thailand’s transportation infrastructure to boost effectiveness and competitiveness of Thailand on the regional stage. Over the last three years, SET has been one of the stock exchanges giving the highest returns in the world. In the near future, foreign investors will be paying more attention to each country’s boosting its competitiveness, so Thailand’s investment for upgrading its infrastructure should draw more interest from them,” said Veerathai Santiprabhob, SET chief strategy officer.

SET has placed emphasis on facilitating insight to both domestic and foreign investors. The bourse has held events and other activities for investors both in Bangkok and other provinces, plus focusing on the present potential of the Thai capital market and strength of its listed companies for foreign institutional investors. So far this year, SET has travelled to major financial hubs, including Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States, as well as to new groups of investors, such as Canada, China, and Malaysia. Moreover, SET also held Thailand Focus 2012 in Bangkok to attract foreign funds last August, Veerathai said, adding “For next year’s roadshow, we will focus on taking medium-sized companies with high potential to meet foreign investors having portfolios in the Thai stock market. For big-cap firms, we plan to take them to meet new groups of funds which have just started investing, or are somewhat unfamiliar with the Thai stock market.”
