Krungsri announces appointment of new CEO

The Board of Directors of Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya Pcl.) today appointed Mr. Noriaki Goto as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of the Bank, effective January 2, 2014.

Mr. Goto has more than 25 years’ experience and a distinguished career in commercial banking with The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU) and its predecessor institutions The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd. (BTM) and The Bank of Tokyo, Ltd. Prior to joining Krungsri, Mr. Goto was BTMU’s Executive Officer and General Manager of the U.S. Holdings Division and the Planning Division for the Americas, headquartered in New York City, since June 2011. He was also Executive Officer and General Manager of the U.S. Holdings Division for Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), the financial holding company of BTMU.

Mr. Goto began his career with the Bank of Tokyo in 1985. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law degree from Waseda University in Japan and an MBA from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business in the United States.

Mrs. Janice Van Ekeren, currently CEO of the Bank, will assume the position of Deputy CEO, effective January 2, 2014. She remains a Director of the Bank. The Bank’s senior management team otherwise remains unchanged.

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU) has today successfully completed a Voluntary Tender Offer (VTO) for Krungsri shares at Bht 39 per share and has acquired 72% of Krungsri’s total outstanding shares. As a result, Krungsri has become a subsidiary of BTMU, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MUFG, Japan’s largest financial group and one of the world’s largest financial groups.
