SEC launches “One Step Beyond with Bond Issue” project

The SEC jointly with the Thai Bond Market Association (ThaiBMA) launched “One Step Beyond with Bond Issue” project to enhance competitiveness of the businesses never once issuing bonds to raise fund. The project also aims to encourage those businesses to consider the capital market as a useful channel for fund raising and cost restructuring while fee discount will be offered to help lessen cost of bond issuance.

Vorapol Socatiyanurak, SEC Secretary-General, said that the SEC jointly with ThaiBMA launched a project called “One step beyond with Bond Issue” to promote corporate fund raising through bond issuance. The project will provide the business operators interesting in bond issuance with a forum to exchange views and experiences with institutional investors and for further cooperation. Schedule of the morning session includes panel discussions on bond market outlook, how to choose suitable fund raising activities for businesses, procedures for offer for sale bonds and bond issuers’ experience sharing. The afternoon session will introduce “the bond fair 2015” joined by financial advisors, bond underwriters and assets management companies seeking investment in new bond issues.

“Nowadays, only 219 companies have issued bonds, comprising 124 listed and 95 non-listed firms. Bond issuance could help diversify fund raising for cost restructuring while interest rates are low and steady. Additionally, ThaiBMA offers discount on bond registration fee.” Vorapol said.

All businesses either listed or non-listed firms are welcome to join the project launching event, free of charge. The event will be held on Tuesday March 10, 2015, 08.30 – 16.30 hrs., at Room 1601 and 1501, the SEC Office, Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road.
