Thammasat University triumphs at Thailand final of CIMA Global Business Challenge 2015

A team from Thammasat University called 'The Beast' has been crowned the national champion at the Thailand final of the CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2015 held on 30 May 2015 at the Grand Millennium Hotel, Bangkok. The GBC is an international business competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in partnership with Barclays. 2800 teams from 25 countries registered to participate in the GBC.

The Beast comprises Soravut Sunchindah, Ravisara Grover, Siwawong Wongsophanakul and Poomrata Wangpreedalertkul who are pursuing the BBA International Program at Thammasat University. At the national final, they had to present their solutions to a real-life CIMA business scenario based on the oil and gas industry. They also had to participate in a question and answer session before a panel of judges. The judges included senior corporate executives from Barclays, KPMG Thailand, TESCO Lotus and Siam Cement.

The team will now represent Thailand at the global final in Warsaw, Poland, in August 2015. They will be competing against 24 other teams from around the world.

Siwawong Wongsophanakul, team leader of The Beast said: "We are thrilled to have won the CIMA 2015 Thailand Global Business Challenge final. The competition has been an incredible experience so far and has allowed us to practise and develop our business knowledge and skills. We're proud to be representing Thailand at the global final and hope to show that we can be the best in the world."
