The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) launched the "SET Social Impact" project via the "SET Social Impact Day 2016" event in Bangkok on July 28, 2016, the "first of its kind" social development project initiated to bridge the business and social sectors, as well as introducing the www.setsocialimpact.com, an online platform to connect both sectors for collaborative synergy. The event was participated by social organizations and social enterprises which have created social impact for more than 1.4 million people in the society.

SET President Kesara Manchusree stated, "SET is not only a fundraising hub that connects businesses and investors with mechanism to drive the Thai economy for over 40 years, but also a focal point to enhance capital market quality by providing financial literacy to integrate environmental, social and governance aspects into their operations, as such contributing positive social impact to the society."

This SET Social Impact project aimed to fulfill the needs of business and social sectors to truly create social impact. At present, there has been a growing number of companies that were willing to share to the social sector both their financial and non-financial resources such as funding, human resources, distribution channels, marketing and legal knowhow, added Kesara.

The "SET Social Impact Day 2016" event highlighted seminars from top executives in Thailand and from overseas as platform to exchange views on running business by considering social impact, as well as launching the new website: www.setsocialimpact.com. The event also showcased booths from social enterprises and social organizations and listed companies displaying their social impact concept and know-how. SET's organizing partners at this special event are Thai Listed Companies Association, Association of Thai Securities Companies, Association of Investment Management Companies and various organizations from the social sector. This on-going project will be implemented in two parts: one part via online through the website; and the other part via workshops and consultation.
