CIMB HEIGHTENS SECURITY MEASURES TO SAFEGUARD CUSTOMERS TRANSACTIONS

CIMB Group announced that a few back-up tapes, some of which could be relating to customer information of CIMB Bank Malaysia and its subsidiaries (including CIMB Thai and its subsidiaries), have been lost in transit. To protect its customers, CIMB Group is heightening security measures across all channels and is working with all relevant regulators. The Group has also reviewed and strengthened its security and internal process to remove the possibility of recurring of the incident.

In relation to the CIMB Group's announcement as earlier today, Mr. Kittiphun Anutarasoti, President and CEO, CIMB Thai Bank Plc., said that, based on our assessment, CIMB Thai and its customers should not be impacted by the incident because the lost back-up tapes do not contain any sensitive details of customer account numbers, PINs or passwords. Besides, following the Group's thorough assessment, there is currently no evidence that the information has been compromised.
