SET announces winners of 2018 Crown Diamond economics contest for primary and high school levels

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Romchatra Foundation and partners from public and private sectors, have announced the winners of "The Crown Diamond in Economics", an annual economic contest for youth, with Chestapan Jaipiam, a student from Triam Udom Suksa School receiving trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Throughout a decade, the project has groomed over 40,000 young Thais from 9,000 schools nationwide to be competent citizens with economics literacy, incubating quality seeds for the country's sustainable growth.

SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said that Crown Diamond in Economics Competition aims to be a stage to cultivate understanding of economics, sufficiency economy philosophy, personal financial management and life insurance among students, while enhancing the learning of economics in schools, in line with SET's vision, 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone'. This year the competition could attract 5,189 primary and secondary school students from 1,165 schools nationwide.

In addition to the continuous enhancement of the competition's standard, SET has also held seminars to instill financial discipline amongteachers and parents as well as exhibition highlighting the key development of the project.

The winners of the 10th Crown Diamond in Economics Contest 2018 were as follows:

- Gold medalist in junior primary school level: Kanyakorn Srisuksai from Surithon Kindergarten School, Nakhon Pathom province

- Gold medalist in senior primary school level: Airin Intaratat from Saint Paul Convent School, Chonburi province

- Gold medalist in junior high school level: Naphat Preioprasit from Debsirin School, Bangkok

- Gold medalist in senior high school level: Chestapan Jaipiam from Triam Udom Suksa School, Bangkok

At the award presentation ceremony, the winner in senior high school category also received gold medal, scholarship, and certificate. Therewards for the top three high school-level winners together with their teachers are international study trips. The total value of the awards was over THB 1 million.

The 10th annual "Crown Diamond in Economics" competition was organized by SET, together with Romchatra Foundation, Thai Life Assurance Association, Faculty of Economics of Chulalongkorn University, and Satriwitthaya 2 School. The Capital Market Development Fund Foundation, Siam Commercial Bank pcl's Economic Intelligence Center, and President Bakery pcl were co-sponsors.
