Bangkok--13 Sep--Siam Commercial Bank

Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices 2018 (DJSI 2018) in the Financial category of the World Index and Emerging Markets Index groups. The selection clearly reflects SCB's commitment to corporate sustainability, with the bank taking into account business growth while strongly caring for society and the environment. Such efforts align with the Bank's vision of being Thailand's 'Most Admired Bank'.

Speaking about the new achievement, Siam Commercial Bank President and CEO Mr. Arthid Nanthawithaya said that business contexts have always evolved in terms technology, society, the environment, and stakeholder expectations. SCB has embarked upon a transformation mission with a Going Upside Down strategy designed to lean the organization, in an effort to boost the bank's potential amid radical changes in the banking and finance industries. The mission aims to steer the firm toward becoming Thailand's Most Admired Bank, with a focus on increasing every aspect of its capabilities and a strong concern for its social and environmental responsibilities. This marks yet another major SCB achievement, with RobecoSAM, which conducts Corporate Sustainability Assessment of global firms, announcing that SCB is among global peers on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices 2018 (DJSI 2018) in the World Index Emerging Markets Index (Financials).

"Our selection as a constituent member of the DJSI is a result of dedication and cooperation by all segments involved in the Bank helping to develop sound operational practices which deeply take into account the bank's impact on the economy, society, and environment, and seriously drive efforts to create tangible results. This honor is regarded as another success, and a source of pride for the Bank", added Mr. Arthid Nanthawithaya.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, or DJSI, are a family of indices evaluating the sustainability performance of corporations, broadly recognized worldwide. The indices are divided among industries, with assessment criteria focusing on economic, social, and environmental performance spanning more than 600 criteria. Evaluations are performed in parallel with analysis of financial performance. Every year more than 3,400 publicly listed companies with the highest market capitalizations from 60 industries worldwide are invited to take part in the corporate sustainability evaluation. Investment funds worldwide recognize and have adopted the DJSI for consideration when investing in companies and firms. In 2018, 20 listed companies from Thailand have been selected as DJSI members.
