Bangkok--31 Aug--SET

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has recently been awarded 3-star rating, the highest mark award recipients achieved in the 2019 assessment (version 2.1) which reflected how the design and management had effectively catered to the well-being of staff, users and visitors of SET’s building, from US-based Fitwel. The SET building becomes the first ever in Asia and outside North America to be rated with such ranking.

SET Executive Vice President Kirati Kosicharoen said that SET is highly committed to environmental, social and governance aspects, and this world-class prestigious award reflected our commitment to drive sustainability practices from policy to implementation in all areas in line with SET's vision 'To Make the Capital Market Work for Everyone.’

Fitwel, the healthy building certification system established by the United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD), assesses and rates buildings based on users' wellbeing in seven dimensions: to promote Physical Activity; and Occupant Safety, to reduce Morbidity and Absenteeism, to support Social Equity, to instill Feelings of Wellbeing, to impact Surrounding Community Health, and to provide Healthy Food Options. Each year over 500 buildings have been in the assessment process, with substantial increase in entrants.

“The award resulted from the fact that SET has placed its importance on well-being of building visitors and employees in a well-balanced manner. SET scored highly across all dimensions and stood out in several areas such as Impacts Surrounding Community Health and Instill Feelings of Wellbeing. Notably, SET has previously been awarded LEED EBOM, Thailand's best in class, firmly signifying SET's position as an organization that truly embraces people and sustainable environment into the heart of the operation” added Kirati.

SCG Cement-Building Materials’ Head of Living Solution Business Wachirachai Koonamwattana said: “SCG introduced Fitwel in Thailand and has become the first Thai organization to join 30 other organizations across Asia in the Fitwel Asia's Advisory Council. The company is thrilled to provide consultancy and congratulate SET's success in receiving a 3-star Fitwel rating version 2.1 in Single-Tenant Building category. In addition to this, SCG has also been awarded Best in Building Health 2020 from CfAD, Fitwel standard operator.”

SCG Building & Living Care Consulting is honored to be an instrumental part that helps enhance quality of life in all aspects and create added value to building and property in the long term for all stakeholders, including building owners, operators, users and surrounding communities.
