TRUE GROUP JOINS HANDS WITH CHULALONGKORN UNIVERSITY AND CNBC TO LAUNCH “TRUE INNOVATION AWARDS 2010” UNDER THE THEME “COMBINING IDEAS OF THE THAI PEOPLE”

True Group has joined hands with Chulalongkorn University and CNBC (Asia Pacific) to launch the first “True Innovations Awards 2010.” Under the theme of “Combining Ideas of the Thai People” the awards aims to seek out the very best innovative ideas from Thais, without any restrictions on age or affiliation. The awards comprise 2 categories: Idea Seed — the best ideas with outstanding plan; Inno Tree — the best innovative ideas that have already been realized, all competing for total cash prizes worth Baht 1 million. Added benefits for contest participants include extensive training with renowned innovation leaders and funding for possible commercialization. Interested persons, regardless of age or affiliation, can choose to submit their creative ideas under either category: Idea Seed - to present the concept of innovation and business plan; and Inno Tree - to present an innovative piece of work that has been realized. Total prizes for the awards contest amount to Baht 1 million plus additional benefits including training with leading innovators to share ideas and skills which are important factors leading to innovations that can be applied. Moreover, there will also be opportunities to commercialize the winning innovative ideas with the support of True Group to compete on the international stage in the future.”

Associate Professor Dr. Annop Tanlamai, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University said “ We are pleased that the private sector is placing importance on innovation, and we are ready to support the True Innovation Awards 2010 in order to spark creative ideas from the new generation. By doing so, we encourage them to present their innovations to society as well as leading to their actualization. The criteria for the Idea Seed category will be based on creativity, originality, and business feasibility. On the other hand, the Inno Tree category criteria will be based on creativity, implementation, commercialization, benefits and value to society, and on presentation and clarifications. The works submitted must be related to any one of the following areas: Innovative Design, Innovative Education System & Distance Learning, Green Innovation, IT & Computer Software, Robot & Electronic Devices, Telecom Innovation, and Mobile Applications.”

Winner (1 prize): Baht 500,000

Silver (2 prizes): Baht 100,000 each

Bronze (2 prizes): Baht 50,000 each

Consolation (5 prizes): Baht 10,000 each

The prizes for the awards under the Idea Seed category are:

Gold (1 prize): Baht 200,000

Silver (2 prizes): Baht 50,000 each

Bronze (2 prizes): Baht 20,000 each

Consolation (5 prizes): Baht 5,000 each
