Stuvik claims another Formula 3 podium in Portugal

Bangkok--14 May--Stuvik

After an intensely close fought qualifying session, where the four RP Motorsport team mates fought over hundredths of seconds, Stuvik found himself qualifying in P3, a mere 0.119 seconds behind pole sitter and team mate Alex Toril. The Spanish driver was again only a fraction ahead of the south-American superstar, Santiago Urritia. For Stuvik this was the first all dry race weekend in almost a year, as virtually all his resent racing events have been on wet circuits.

The subsequent race saw the four RP Motorsport cars cleanly trading positions on the first lap, with Uruguay's Urritia taking the lead, Spain's Toril in second and Thailand's Stuvik in third. The trio soon started to open a gap towards the pursuing 28 Formula 3 cars and midway through the race, the Thai driver moved up to 2nd place, only to be overtaken again. Stuvik remained in 3rd until the last lap of the race, when he again slipstreamed Toril down the Portimao main straight and at speed of 250 kph, managed to overtake the Spaniard and move into second. In the end the three team mates finished in that order, and the elated RP Motorsport Team saw their drivers lock out the entire podium. Stuvik set the fastest lap of the race on the last lap and now extends his championship lead to 56 points, 17 points ahead of Spain's Toril with 37 points.

The second of the weekend's qualifying and race will run Sunday at Portimao Circuit, with the weather forecast still for dry, warm and blue sky over southern Portugal.
