AIT and Bangkok University enter three-year partnership

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Bangkok University (BU) have committed to work together over the next three years on a wide range of academic, research and promotional initiatives of mutual benefit.

AIT President Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai (left) and Bangkok University President Dr. Mathana Santiwat this week (24 June 2014) signed and memorandum of understanding (MoU) that allows for the development of joint degree programs and research activities, as well as the joint appointment of lecturers between the two universities.

Also included in the MoU is a provision for joint promotional activities, such as technical meetings, international workshops, conferences, seminars, symposia and student activities. The two institutions will work on modalities for the exchange of students, faculty, research staff, and use of facilities.

At the signing ceremony at AIT, President Worsak complimented BU on its modern campus and expressed delight that the new agreement would complement each institution’s core strengths.

President Mathana said Bangkok University was keen to pursue joint research projects with AIT, particularly in areas such as electrical engineering, telecommunications and computer science. Dr. Mathana recommended that some junior faculty members could elevate their academic credentials by studying at AIT.

Officials added they were open tapping the cooperation to include areas such as innovation, entrepreneurship, and international student exchanges.
