Prior to commencing the cleanup, Mr. Magne Hansen, General Manager, Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok stated in an opening comment that “This green campaign aims to promote public awareness of environmental issues and encourage the public to actively contribute toward creating a better environment. We invited the neighborhood to join in keeping their environment clean and preventing pollution around Soi Narathiwas 24. Everyone here is a valuable part of the community and can create a better world”. The Yannawa officer then demonstrated methods of waste segregation and the creation of EM (Effective
Microorganisms) and biologically fermented products for all the volunteers in attendance.
The activity started at Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok and spread throughout Soi Narathiwas 24. Chatrium colleagues joined with local district officers and other volunteers in the collection of unwanted items and garbage from the local community along Soi Narathiwas. It is the first time that Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok partnered with Yannawa District Office and a local neighborhood in a green effort.
Besides the recent activity at Chatrium Residence Sathon Bangkok, Chatrium provides humanitarian aid to local communities that are in need on a regular basis across all our properties in Bangkok and Yangon. Some previous efforts to improve the environment by Chatrium colleagues include the cleanup of sections of the Chao Phraya River by Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok associates, the rejuvenation of Benjasiri Park by Emporium Suites by Chatrium employees and reforestation projects by Chatrium’s colleagues in Yangon.
