“We are proud and thrilled to have played a part in gathering so much support for this worthwhile cause,” said Ms. Supap Sirins, General Manager of the extended stay hotel, located in the heart of Bangkok. “We here at the Mayfair look forward to supporting Operation Smile for many more years to come in the hopes that we can continue to help make a difference in the lives of children all over Thailand.”
Since the expansion of support from Marriott, each hotel arranges fund-raising activities to help the charity, culminating in a wealth of support by the end of each year. Operation Smile Thailand transforms that support into healthcare that changes lives. The charity helps by providing post-operative care including speech pathology and orthodontics, while its medical volunteers and staff participate in training and education programs.
The program promotes self-sustainability by recruiting highly qualified medical professionals and conducts an average of 10 surgical missions per year. In the last few years alone, Operation Smiles has performed more than 7,000 free surgeries for children, and has reached out with medical missions to Tak, Ubon Ratchathani, Pitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Saraburi, Chiang Mai, Nan, Nakhon Phanom, Chonburi, Yasothorn, Amnat Chareon, Sisaket, Nakhon Srithammarat, Songkla, Yala, Samutsakorn, Kanchanaburi, Nonthaburi and Surin.
