Connoisseurs of gourmet Italian cuisine and fine wines are invited to a memorable gastronomic experience at Rossini’s special Pio Cesare Wine Dinner on Thursday March 12, 2015.

Founded in 1881, the venerable Pio Cesare winery in northern Italy has been making award-winning Piedmont wines for five generations. The winery was one of the first to recognize the potential of the indigenous Nebbiolo grape used to produce renowned Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Pio Cesare wines are limited in order to maintain exceptional quality, and year after year they are among the world's most highly regarded labels.

At Rossini’s Pio Cesare Wine Dinner, Italian chef, Luca Cesarini, will welcome guests with his enticing southern Piedmont aperitivo to be enjoyed with a fresh and crisp Cortese di Gavi. The outstanding 4-course menu created to complement the sommelier’s selection of Pio Cesare wines will start with a light and delicious salad of chilled crab roe and beetroot gazpacho served with Pio Cesare L’altro Chardonnay 2013, a rich and creamy wine with delicate hints of vanilla. Diners will also enjoy foie gras tortelli with duck tartare, potatoes, and regional Piedmont sugo sauce paired with the single vineyard oak-aged Pio Cesare Fides Barbera D’Alba 2012. A highlight of the unforgettable epicurean evening will be Chef Luca’s succulent roasted veal tenderloin ossobuco with spiced bone marrow cannolo and vegetables matched with Pio Cesare Barolo 2009, an elegant and engaging wine made from 100 percent Nebbiolo grapes. The evening will end with a light and luscious mascarpone mousse with a cookie crumble, dried fruit, pistachio, and vanilla ice cream to be enjoyed with a limited production of Pio Cesare Moscato d’Asti, a semi-sweet wine with flavors of honey, ripe fruit and a pleasant frizzante finish, and followed by coffee, tea and Rossini’s petit fours.
