Bangchak donates 8 Million Baht to the Asian Institute of Technology

On 30 April 2015, Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, President of Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited handed over 8 million Thai Baht to the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for three Master’s level scholarships and five million for the modernization of the institute’s library. Handing over the donation, Mr. Chaiwat remarked that education is fundamentally important for the sustainable development of Thai society.

Mr. Chaiwat said the 8 Million Baht donation will be partly earmarked for three scholarships in the fields of energy and geotechnical engineering, because these two fields play important roles for economic development and national energy security. The scholarships will reinforce the ability of the youth to become knowledgeable personnel in energy production and management. The 5 million Baht donation will be used for AIT Library Modernization Campaign to convert it into a hub for the campus and a digital showcase for e-learning. AIT’s main library was severely damaged in the flood of 2011.

Mr. Chaiwat is a notable member of AIT’s rising-star alumnus. He graduated in 1991 with a Master’s of Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) . At present, he serves as a CEO of Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited which is a major leading energy company in the Asian region.

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has long dedicated itself as an education and research institute, promoting progress through technological development for over fifty years.
