This type of food supplements encompasses food products and nutritional additives such as vitamins, tonic, beverages, bread, dairy products and yogurt. The bread group is growing substantially in Asia Pacific with a market share of 4.8 percent in 2004, and is expected to grow by 5.4% or about 3.7 billion US dollars in 2019. Dr. Tippawan Parinyasiri, Director of the FDA's Food Control Division added that "In addition to supplement market, another market to watch is that of Thai herbs. Spices and herbs have been applied in different ways as an ingredient in food supplement, as herbal cosmetics, as herbal massage and steam, and herbal drinks and herbal drugs. Today, the export value of Thai herbs is up to hundred millions baht. The herbal supplements in Thailand gain total export value of over 80,000 million baht while the spa products are worth about 10,000 million baht.
