The Regent's International School Bangkok is proud to announce that Disney's Aladdin Jr will be performed in the Rama 9 Campus Auditorium on the 16th and 17th June 2016 at 6 pm. The project is being lead by Head of Drama, Lynsay Ansell, who will direct and choreograph, and involves a huge team of over 140 staff and students, including lead performers Lissa Wonson and Faaiz Akbar.

The story of Aladdin was originally taken from the collection of folktales 1001 Arabian Nights and has since been adapted for stage and screen. Aladdin Jr is a Disney musical, with original music by Alan Menken, (adapted by Bryan Louiselle) and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, (adapted by Jim Luigs). The piece tells the story of a poor boy, Aladdin, who lives in the fictional city of Agrabah, and who falls in love with the beautiful Princess Jasmine. They are thwarted in their love by the efforts of evil vizier Jafar and his sarcastic sidekick Iago, but with the help of the powerful Genie and a Magic Carpet, Jasmine and Aladdin are able to convince Jasmine's father, The Sultan, to let them marry and live happily ever after. The audience will hear much loved pieces from the 1992 film, including A Whole New World and Friend Like Me, as well as numbers created especially for this version of the performance, such as Why Me? This year's musical group is arranged and conducted by Gareth Ansell and vocal coaching has been carried out by Rachel Teague.

Tickets are available by contacting the Regent's International School Finance Office by phoning 02 957 5777, and seats are reserved on a first come first served basis.
