Tuesday 28 June 2016 17:43
Each summer, the lavender fields in Hokkaido's picturesque Furano region attract large numbers of visitors when the fragrant purple plants are in full bloom. The majority of lavender usually starts blooming in late June and reaches its peak from around mid - July to early August.

At Up & Above Bar, our talented pastry chefs welcome the arrival of Hokkaido's lavender season with an exquisite Lavender Afternoon Tea. Delicate sweet and savoury delights include lavender macaroons, blackcurrant chocolate nut bars, lavender and blueberry jam rolls, lavender cake, lavender and blueberry tartlets, blackcurrant and lavender scones, baked spiced chicken and honey pastries, smoked salmon pin wheel sandwiches with cream cheese and chives, and crab and Avruga caviar in brioche.

Lavender is a versatile herb used by our skilled chefs to infuse pastries and cake with the flavour, scent and colour of summer. The beautiful purple flowers add a sweet flavour with notes of with lemon and citrus.

The gourmet light bites are complemented by luxury Mariage Frères Tea from France. Established in Paris in1854, it is considered by many to be the finest tea in the world and uses the premium quality tea buds from all four corners of the globe.
