Traditionally, a typical Thai meal consists of a series of dishes served all together to share among family and friends, making for a wonderful contrast of flavors and textures. Now renovated with a warm but stylish atmosphere, Suan Bua Restaurant, an institution in Bangkok for over 30 years, is dedicated to creating authentic Thai cuisine inspired by traditions throughout the country.

The restaurant now features a new "set menu" approach, where guests are free to choose one dish per course from the carefully-crafted menu as well as any additional courses they may desire. Chef Por is happy to recommend his signature dishes to most fully demonstrate his take on authentic Central Thai cuisine.

There will be both a lunch and dinner menu for a minimum of two people; the lunch set starts at THB 690++ per person including one dish from each course - salad and appetizers, relish, soup, curry and a stir-fried choices, while dinner starts from THB 999++ per person with a choice of one dish from each course and two from the curry selection. Offerings range from delectable items such as grilled tiger prawn skewers with peanut sauce; Thai samphire and crab-meat salad; hot and sour soup grilled prawn and green mango; grilled Mea Lar district fish curry wrapped in banana leaves and sour soup with red snapper and fresh ginger as well as preserved shrimp paste and grilled fish in coconut cream with vegetables through to Khampaengsan beef in panang curry.

In addition to these two sets, Suan Bua is also offering an "Exclusive Signature Dish" range, which allows guests to choose additional dishes from the a la carte menu at both lunch and dinner, with mouthwatering choices such as six-hours braised New Zealand lamb shanks (THB 690++); stir-fried lobster in red curry sauce (THB 1,550++); fresh oyster salad with spicy seafood sauce (THB 990++); sliced abalone salad with spicy seafood sauce (THB 4,000++) and many more delicious options.

To find the perfect rice to complement each dish, Chef Por travelled northeast to explore the slopes around Thailand's famous extinct Buriram volcano. There, he discovered the area's top-quality organic Hom Mali rice, which is rich in iron, phosphorus and calcium and with a uniquely delicious taste to serve at Suan Bua.

Guests can complete their meal with a special dessert course that will feature treats such as Thai custard bread and vanilla ice cream (THB 170++); tropical fruits in scented syrup and Thai candies with watermelon seeds (THB 250++) as well as mangoes with sticky rice (THB 150/290++).
