Bangkok--14 Feb--Brandnow asia
The world's largest electrical exhibition features not just equipment & technology, but peerless thought leadership platforms for everything electric – from technical conferences to industry summits.

ELECRAMA 2018, organised by IEEMA - Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association, one of the world's oldest and largest electrical exhibition that brings together the complete 360 degrees ecosystem of solutions that powers the planet, will be held in India from March 10th-14th 2018 at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR.

Speaking at an event in Bangkok recently to introduce this world class electricity forum to Thai private and public utilities and transmission and distribution companies, Mr Harish Agarwal, Vice President of IEEMA said the 13th ELECRAMA 2018, supported by the Government of India, is a premier showcase of electrical products and technology and a leading business networking, knowledge and thought leadership platform for the industry.

ELECRAMA 2018 will cover the entire spectrum of electricity including generation, transmission, distribution, power electronics, renewables, electric transportation, power storage and automation.

He added that ELECRAMA 2018 is an opportunity for Thailand and India to push for electricity trade with a long-term perspective as there is a huge potential for both countries. Many Thai companies including the utilities, power generation, transmission and distribution companies along with those in power electronics, electro-mobility and power storage sectors have already expressed interest in exhibiting and attending ELECRAMA 2018.

"Thailand will need to invest significantly in its energy system over the coming two decades as it has set a new renewable energy target of 30% of total final energy consumption by 2036. The Thai government has long recognised the importance of alternative, especially renewable, energy sources and the need to introduce programmes in support of renewable energy development and deployment. Additional efforts are being made for strengthening and expanding transmission infrastructure."

He pointed out that India is moving from fossil fuels to renewable energy, from antiquated networks to smart grids, from metropolitan cities consisting of creaking infrastructure to smart cities. ELECRAMA 2018 will witness policymakers brainstorming on the roadmap to achieve the ambitious target set by the Government of India.

The last edition of ELECRAMA held in 2016 saw 600 buyers conclude businesses worth USD400 million (Approximately THB 13.2 billion) and over 6000 meetings in 3 days.

According to Thepparat Theppitak, Assistant Governor, Renewable & New Energy, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), there is great potential between Thailand and India to develop trade in the power and electrical sector. This year, representatives from EGAT, MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority), PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) and Thai Electrical & Mechanical Contractors Association (TEMCA) will be attending ELECRAMA 2018.

Dr Sanjay Kumar, Commercial Representative, Embassy of India, Bangkok, said that in 2017, there was a 35% increase in India-Thai bilateral trade, adding that the bilateral trade for power sector should be targeted at USD 1 billion in the next three years.

According to Mr Vijay Karia, Chairman of ELECRAMA, ELECRAMA 2018 will have more than 1100 exhibitors spread over 10,000 sq meters, from the utilities, power generation and electronics, transmission and distribution companies from more than 100 countries, showcasing their products & services. Over 250,000 visitors are expected in this five day event will have dedicated pavilions on railway, power and renewable energy. ELECRAMA 2018 will also focus on electric vehicles, Internet of Things (IOT), storage solutions and more.

Highlights at ELECRAMA 2018 includes the World Utility Summit, a pioneering thought leadership forum, ETechNxt featuring state-of-the-art products and services and conferences where visitors can interact with industry leaders and ChangeXChange 2018, where buyers can reach out to Indian manufacturers of high quality and competitive electrical equipment and components. There will also be interactive and immersive VR and AR booths and panel discussions on a range of issues including energy storage, energy security, climate challenges, and the adoption of information and communication

Mr Shreegopal Kabra, President, IEEMA said that IEEMA has contributed to bringing the organisation to where it stands today, with a membership of over 800 and a combined turnover of over USD 42 billion.

"Today the environment in which our businesses operate is changing very fast. We have witnessed change in the taxation regime and demonetization recently. IEEMA took up the cause of appropriate tax rates where ever the anomalies existed and successfully steered the path to its logical conclusion. Our association will continue to respond to such challenges as and when they arise."
