Over 191 memorable postcards and private stamp collections of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Rare and special items from the world's collections of philatelic valued over billions baht, are set to be revealed at the Thailand 2018 World Stamp Exhibition during November 28 – December 3, 2018 at Siam Paragon

Mr. Surajit Gongvatana, Advisor of The Philatelic Association of Thailand under the patronage of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, stated that Thailand 2018 World Stamp Exhibition has been collaborated by Thailand Post Co., Ltd., considered a great opportunity to promote and upgrade Thailand's stamp collections skill to be in line with international standards, while promoting tourism in the country in various aspects, as part of the strategy to unveil long-standing uniqueness as well as generate greater incomes. Significant exhibitions and activities, the exhibition in honor of H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, exhibition of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn private collection of 191 pieces of postcards, exhibition of major events and milestones taken place during the three dynasties of the Thai monarchy, world-class stamp contest, 'Grand Prix Club' and 'Special Prize' corners, stage forums, and auction of rare collectibles collected from around the world, are also featured in the event.

One of the must see highlights is the 'Archives of the Three Dynasties'. This zone unveils major events and milestones taken place in the Thai history starting from:
  • The Ayutthaya Period – This is the winners will be archive found during the dynasty of King Narai the Great in B.E. 2231 (1688) or 330 years ago.
  • The Thonburi Period – It is the royal command declared by the Chinese 'Qianlong' Emperor, considered the oldest communication archive between China and Siam in the old days.
  • The Rattanakosin Era – Here are archives of the two dynasties, consisting of King Rama IV's handwritten archive correspondence with Sir John Bowring, a handwritten archive of King Pinklao, who was honored as the Second King of Siam during the dynasty of King Rama IV, describing about treaty negotiations and agreements between Siam and Denmark, and King Rama V's handwritten archives mentioning about the worshiping ceremony of the Lord Buddha's sacred relics taken from India to Siam. There is also another official document issued by King Rama V, designating Prince Vajiravudh to preside over the opening ceremony of Tachin Railway Station on behalf of his majesty.

Also, stamp collectors are looking forward to joining a stamp contest, where the winners of each award class will be honored with three world-class achievement awards presented by H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn,including:

  • Grand Prix National Award – For the best of honorable award in Thailand exhibit.
  • Grand Prix International Award – For the best of honorable award from international exhibit (except Thailand).
  • Grand Prix d'Honneur Award – The best of honorable award among those having earning 3 large gold medals.

Currently, a massive number of stamp collectors and philatelists from all over the world have expressed their keen interests in joining the contest, with over 600 collections masterpieces worth billions of baht.

Miss Pilantanee Suwanbubbha, Executive Vice President, Office of the President of Thailand Post Co., Ltd., said Thailand Post is introducing commemorative stamps of striking designs under the themes 'Thailand 2018 World Stamp Exhibition' and 'Stamp Journey' exclusively for this special event aiming to promote tourism in Thailand's major and minor provinces conforming to the 'Amazing Thailand Tourism in Digital 4.0 Era' slogan.

Commemorative 'Thailand 2018 World Stamp Exhibition' stamps vary in five special designs linking the Tourism Authority of Thailand's 55-secondary city tourism festival. There are five must-visit tourist attractions in five provinces selected as tourism highlights, including 1) The Ban Tha Chomphu Bridge, also known as the White Bridge, in Lamphun province – the historical railway bridge that was saved from aircraft bombing during the prolonged period of World War II, 2) The Lotus Memorial Park in Sakon Nakhon province – the largest lotus park in Thailand, where more than 100 species of lotus flowers can be seen, 3) The Black Sand Beach in Trat province – one of the world's five most beautiful and extraordinary beaches existed by the diversity in ecological systems, 4) The Drum-Making Village in Ang Thong province – the country's best and most renowned drum-making village, and 5) The Stone Arch in Satun province – the gigantic natural stone arch, also renowned for being an iconic landmark of Tarutao National Park, is believed among love couples that passing through this rock arch will bless their love to last forever. Additionally, the five stamp collections will be made available for sale on November 28, 2018, priced at 3 and 15 baht each.

The 'Stamp Journey' collection, featured in the event's five-region tourism exhibition, comes up with touchy campaigns especially for travel lovers and holidaymakers. And get a passport to join activities in five major regions can wonderfully be described as:

  • Visit the North: Indulge yourself in the paradise of luminous twilight and the heavenly sea of mist.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's private collection of valuable rare stamps and postcards "H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously enjoys collecting stamps and postcards since her early youth. During her time at Chitralada School, stamp collecting had become her addictive hobby. She enjoyed exchanging some of them with her friends and was presented with memorable ones by her relatives. In fact, she had collected plenty of Thai and foreign stamps altogether.

"For this special event, H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has graciously allowed organizers to showcase her royal highness private collection 191 pieces of postcards. A major highlight will be the display of Her Royal Highness's 20 philatelic rarities that have never been seen by the public. The 20 philatelic rarities are postcards that H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn had addressed to herself when she traveled abroad," added Mr. Leeyakas.
