Dow Thailand , together with the Chemical Society of Thailand (CST), under the patronage of Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn recently announced the winners of DOW-CST AWARD 2018, a small-scale chemistry laboratory contest under Dow Chemistry Classroom. Winning teachers this year were awarded with total prizes worth over THB200,000; while first-prized winners also received royal trophy from Prof. Dr. H.R.H. Princess Chulabhorn in Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON 2019) which will be held in February at BITEC Bangna.

Dow Thailand has continued the journey of "Dow Chemistry Classroom" for six consecutive years, in response to the government policy in education spheres by developing students and teachers to become learning people, creative initiators and innovators to increase their science experiences and insights using Small-Scale Chemistry Laboratory technique which is an effective and safe means of chemistry experiment. As a result, it will leverage educational standard in Thailand, pushing forward the frontiers of knowledge particularly in science and technology and driving teachers and students towards creative thinkers and innovators in Thailand 4.0 era.

Professor Dr. Supa Hannongbua, President of the Chemical Society of Thailand said, "the Chemical Society of Thailand has contributed to the journey of DOW-CST AWARD and Dow Chemistry Classroom for continuous years. We are aware that classroom is a good foundation for learning and education including better understanding of science. The better science knowledge accessibility via Small-Scale Chemistry Laboratory technique will help reduce the gap of science educational standard between schools in Bangkok and remote areas within the country. Moreover, it will allow children whose schools lack in science laboratories or budget for costly chemical substances or equipment to gain access to a better chemistry education."

Dr. Aphiya Hathayatham, Vice President of the National Science Museum said, the National Science Museum's objective is to encourage Thai society to recognize the importance of science for country development. DOW-CST AWARD and Dow Chemistry Classroom contribute greatly to students in terms of science and technology. This is part of STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Education) which is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four pillars — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, enabling students to learn and integrate the knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics via activities or projects reflecting real-life problem solving. We genuinely hope that Dow Chemistry Classroom will pave way to nation's advancements of science education and for students to apply knowledge with a variety of professions in the future, steering the country towards Thailand 4.0 with sustainable development".

DOW-CST AWARD under Dow Chemistry Classroom Project this year has laid a great opportunity for over 153 role-model science teachers and chemistry experiment passionate students countrywide to participate with a total of 46 projects using Small-Scale Chemistry Laboratory technique in the most creative way.
