Co-volunteered and supported by Thai Lion Air, SEA LIFE Bangkok crews flied to Phuket on a 2-day volunteer mission – kicking off with visiting Phuket Marine National Park to explore the route of nature and kayaking along Tha Chatchai mangrove trail on a cleanup mission due to the problem that a lot of garbage files into the mangrove swamp from the sea through the high tide, but never really leaves when the tide is low – rather they are stuck in the tangle of the mangrove roots. The mission was completed at Phuket Marine Biological Center, where the aquarium crews gave out helping hands to clean up the injured turtle habitats, as well as to take care of the rescued turtles that were injured either during predator hunts or their encounters with human's fishing tools.
"Our mission of sustainability begins with creating environmental consciousness in every of SEA LIFE Bangkok crews. Conscious to the world's environmental situation and fully committed, we decide to double our annual volunteer missions to contribute to the sustainable conservation of sea environment. Having been through our 2-day missions, we found out, from the Marine Biological Center staffs, that our volunteering in cleaning the habitat is the first-timer. The staffs normally have to do it all by themselves, resulting in the lack of needed frequency. Needless to say that we are happy that SEA LIFE Bangkok could contribute to support the life quality of sea creatures, and we will definitely continue operating on sustainability as committed," concluded Noppadon Prapimpunt, head of Merlin Entertainments (Thailand) and SEA LIFE Bangkok executive.
