"Gatorade", the sports-drink brand, has organized "Gatorade 5v5" as a world-class football tournament. Launched in 2015, the tournament has covered more than 18,900 teams from as many as four continents.
This year, Thailand's "Gatorade 5v5 Football 2019" started in February in search of the best youth football team to represent the country at the international level. More than 512 teams, with 3,072 youngsters, had participated in this sports event. Participating teams had clashed in selection rounds before the two best teams fought for national championship and the right to go to the finals that are held in Madrid, Spain.
Attracting top teams from 22 nations, the "Gatorade 5v5 Football 2019" finals in Spain's Madrid have already concluded. The team from Thailand, Blue Army, has done remarkably well in the games. It beat football teams from Honduras-Sula, Panama, Spain and Peru in its group to enter the playoff. Its top form continued, as it defeated the Dominican and then the Columbian teams. In the final match, it fought fiercely against the US team and scored
2-1 in the first half. However, the US team managed to get even and emerged as the winner with 2-3 victory.
This football competition has offered Thai youth an opportunity to present their outstanding skills. Exceeding all expectations, the Thai team has proven to be the second-best team at such international games. Moreover, of all players from 22 countries, Thai team's captain "Tawan Jantasen" has received the "MVP – Most Valuable Player" award from the tournament. The honor comes with a FC Barcelona jersey that has been signed by all
its players. The remarkable successes of the Thai team and its captain at such international matches have been a big boost to recognition for Thai youth. It takes serious training and teamwork to score such achievements. Despite pressure from various factors, Blue Army has demonstrated dedication and unity – which are crucial to sports success.
