Bangkok--2 Jun--CPF

Volunteers from Charoen Pokphand Group set up a community pantry under a project called “Sharing Foods, Sharing Happiness” to feed people who affected by COVID-19 outbreak in the neighborhood of Trok Chan, Sathorn District, Bangkok.

Mr. Prasit Boondoungprasert, chief executive officer of Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL (CPF), said that the community pantry is a joint effort between CP Group and Trok Chan’s residents to provide food security for people in need around the area.

“CP employees are happy to give our supports to the community where we are working in. They are our neighbors that we must help, especially at a time of crisis,” he said. "Moreover, I would like to encourage residents to join together in support of our neighborhood as well.”

Mr. Tawatchai Pangthai, Assistant Director of Sathorn District, added that, even though the area is a business district, there are many low-income people living in the community. These people are being affected by the pandemic. This joint project can help them alleviate financial burden that they are facing.

The project is among a series of COVID-19 relief initiatives made by CP Group and CPF. Previously, CPF has delivered food supplies to frontline medical workers, individuals returned from overseas to self-quarantine and low-income people in Thailand and many countries that the company operates. Meanwhile, CP Group has established a surgical face mask factory.

These projects are in line with CPF’s good corporate citizen philosophy that placed importance on well-being of the country and its people.
The food sharing pantry, which stocked with rice, drink and food supplies, is located in front of CP office on Chan 24 (Soi Yen Chit), starting from June 1 onwards.
