Calling all budding computer users who love to stay one step ahead of the latest technology and want to be a part of the development process for the operating system of the future - the Windows 7 Release Candidate is available now for free download!

Customer participation has been at the heart of Windows 7 ever since its earliest days of development and after gathering user feedback from all corners of the globe, Windows 7 is now entering its final stages of development — which you too can become a part of.

“PC users around the world make up a powerful global community that rightfully wants to have a say in the operating system it uses. From its inception Windows 7 has actively sought out the opinions, suggestions and feedback of IT developers, enterprises and general users, so there is a real feeling within the industry that Windows 7 is on track to becoming the operating system of the decade,” said Patama Chantaruck, Managing Director, Microsoft (Thailand). “Research indicates that the main priorities for most Windows’ users are speed, compatibility, reliability and responsiveness. As such, Microsoft has made hundreds of adjustments, improvements and additions to the interfaces, mechanisms and features inside Windows 7 to ensure that all users experience the ‘wow-factor’ of a first-class PC experience that makes tasks simpler and their everyday lives easier.”

To download the Windows 7 Release Candidate and receive the recommended updates, your PC must have internet access and meet the following minimum system requirements: 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor, 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit), 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit) and a DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver.

Downloading the Windows 7 Release Candidate could take a few hours, although the exact time will depend on your internet provider, bandwidth and traffic. The good news is that once the download begins you won't have to wait around to answer any questions — you can walk away and leave it until the download is complete. Once successfully installed the Release Candidate version of Windows 7 can be used until it expires on June 1st, 2010.
