The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), continues to focus on financial literacy to promote financial planning among career people through financial planning project called "Ngern Thong Tong Wang Phan", preparing them to be ready for quality retirement, as the number of Thai senior citizens is expected to continue to increase in the next 20 years. This reinforces SET's fifth decade of commitment to create long-term wealth, as such driving sustainable economic growth for Thailand.

The project will be held for the third consecutive year after overwhelming success in the past two years. SET aims this year’s goal to reach more than two million persons among the target audiences.

SET President Kesara Manchusree said that SET has been committed to providing financial and investment literacy, acting as a savings and investment knowledge hub to create financial strength for the Thai people. Thailand has become an aging society ,proven by the ratio of Thai senior citizens to the total population which was projected to be 25 percent in the next 20 years. From the current 43 million Thai working-age population, only 10 millions were covered by social security fund, and only 2.7 millions have provident fund with an average provident savings at only THB 325,000 per person. It was therefore the must for private and public sectors to promotesavings tools for retirement.

“SET and partners have been instrumental in continuously developing financial tools for retirement among working-age people via the launch of Employee's Choice@Workplaces, providing various financial plans via provident fund. SET also promotes retirement mutual fund which is an effective savings tool for both career people and those without social security or company provident fund schemes,” stated Kesara.
