Dr. Sak Segkhoonthod, President and CEO, Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) (EGA) said that DR Site for G-Cloud has been established to enhance the complete capability of the government cloud computing system known as G-Cloud which is EGA’s Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). G-Cloud has hosted over 600 systems and has been widely used by various government agencies during the past three years. The popularity of G-Cloud has urged EGA to reinforce the system with the disaster recovery service to reassure of the continuity of G-Cloud operation without disruption. DR Site for G-Cloud is situated in Thailand and is monitored 24 hours by experienced information technology engineering experts.

The budget for the operation of DR Site for G-Cloud is high so that there is still limitation in the selection of systems to be administered. The initial phase of the service gives priority to critical government systems including those relating to national policies and services for the general public and businesses. At the meantime, the site administers more than 20 systems for several government agencies as a pilot project.

Other than disaster recovery service, EGA has consistently developed the capability of G-Cloud to ensure effective services for government agencies. G-Cloud is hosted on secure government network known as Government Information Network (GIN) and is equipped with SSL-VPN and 2Factor Authentication to ensure secure access. EGA’s G-Cloud has been recently certified with ISO27001:2005 for its security management during 2014 fiscal year.
