Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket welcomed Deputy Governor of Phuket and Miss Thailand Universe 2010

Khun Teerayut Eamtrakul, Deputy Governor of Phuket was warmly welcomed by Mr. Klaus Christandl, General Manager of Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket during his visit to the resort as Guest of Honour of Laguna Phuket’s 17th Annual Sea Turtle Release Ceremony on 2nd April 2010. Miss Thailand Universe 2010, Khun Fonthip Watcharatrakul also participated in this ceremony and gave a speech about the importance of conserving the sea turtles. She was welcomed by Mr. Lyndon Ellis, Hotel Manger upon arrival.

The Laguna Phuket’s 17th Annual Sea Turtle Release Ceremony took place at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket beachfront on 2nd April 2010. The event help to raise funds for the Phuket Marine Biological Centre and the Third Naval Area Command, Royal Thai Navy to purchase satellite tracking devices to assist in the ongoing conservation and research program, as well as food for turtle nurseries. Attendees of the event enjoyed and array of exciting activities and games on the beach, compete in turtle sand sculpture competitions, as well as opportunities to sponsor one the sea turtles being released. The event included the very first turtles equipped with satellite tracking devices to be released directly into the Andaman Ocean under this research program.
