Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) joins Airbus Corporate Foundation (ACF) and Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen (LOG or “Wings of Help”) to bring humanitarian goods to Thailand.

Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI President, said, “The cooperation with Airbus and Airbus Corporate Foundation developed naturally as THAI was preparing to receive delivery of the first of an order of seven A330-300 aircraft, and as the ACF and LOG were preparing to send humanitarian goods to Thailand. THAI is happy to help those in need.”

The ferry flight TG8925 of the A330-300 aircraft (dubbed “Friendship Christmas Flight”) took off from Frankfurt, Germany on 20 December 2011 is due to arrive in Bangkok 21 December at 0840 hours, and is carrying 12 tons of humanitarian goods — medicine, medical supplies, blankets, and clothing for Thailand flood victims. Thailand suffered severe flooding in recent months, affecting millions of people in need of medicine, clothing and blankets.

On hand to receive delivery of the A330-300 aircraft and welcome delegates bringing the humanitarian supplies will be THAI President, THAI Executive Vice President of Technical Department, Mr. Montree Jumrieng, Executive Vice President of Product & Customer Services, Mr. Teerapol Chotichanapibal, and Deputy Vice President of Aircraft Maintenance Center, Mr. Bancha Choonnasit.

Ms. Andrea Debbane, Executive Director of the Airbus Corporate Foundation, said: “The Airbus Corporate Foundation, LOG and THAI identified this flight as an opportunity to transport humanitarian goods to the people of Thailand affected by the flooding.”

Since its launch in December 2008, Airbus Corporate Foundation has built a global network of airlines and relief organizations to transport international humanitarian aid. Ferry flights of new aircraft have been used on numerous occasions to transport goods all over the world.
