Employees of Amadeus Asia based in Bangkok, a leading travel technology partner for the global travel industry, came together on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Pattaya’s Child Protection and Development Center to donate books and time with children from the Centre and its associated groups.
As part of the “Amadeus Cares” initiative, almost 200 volunteers travelled from Bangkok to participate in a series of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, teaching, planting and cooking. In addition to helping out at the Centre, employees donated 430 curriculum-specific school books to grow the library and help provide the children with a good education.
The Child Protection and Development Programme is Human Help Network’s response to an increasing number of street children in Pattaya and the exploitation and poverty that many of these children suffer from. The Child Protection and Development Center (CPDC) is a central component of this programme. The Centre aims to provide street children with protection, education and prospects for the future.
Radchada Chomjinda, Director, HHN Foundation Thailand said “Words fail me in thanking you enough for the Amadeus CSR visit to the Child Protection and Development (CPDC). Your people have made a difference to the lives of these less fortunate children. On behalf of the children, staff and everybody at CPDC, thank you for your generosity and I hope you have carried good memories back with you.”
“Amadeus places great emphasis on education, development and learning so wherever possible we try to share knowledge given the difference it can make to people’s lives. Under the Amadeus Cares programme, our team felt privileged to be so warmly welcomed by the children, and we applaud the valuable work the Centre does with the community in Pattaya,” said David Brett, President Amadeus Asia Pacific.
The Amadeus Cares initiative is Amadeus’ community investment programme in Thailand. Launched in November 2010, it is run by employees on a volunteer basis.
Amadeus also celebrated its 25 year anniversary last week.
