Join fellow Japanese cuisine enthusiasts and sake connoisseurs at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa’s upscale Japanese steakhouse “Benihana”, for the Ultimate Sake Dinner priced at THB 2,500++ per person on Wednesday 13th March 2013 from 7:30 pm — 10:30 pm.

This unique dining experience presents five carefully crafted courses that showcase the unique flavours and artistic presentation of Japan’s culinary culture. Each course is complemented by the perfect Ozeki Sake. This renowned sake brand boasts over 300 years of dedication to excellence and now exports superb varieties of traditional Japanese rice wine to over 40 countries around the globe. To enhance the distinctive characters even further, each sake is presented in a carefully chosen serving glass to bring out its aromas and flavours.

The Ultimate Sake Dinner commences with an Ozeki Nama Chozo-Shu Sake served in a traditional shot glass. Storage without pasteurisation gives this sake a sweet and fresh flavour, which is ideal for the dish of Jalapeno Pepper Hamachi with fresh wasabi lime sauce, cracked black pepper, lime zest and diced jalapeno pepper, sprinkled with micro cilantro.

For the second course, the Kanjuku Ume-Shu Rose Sake is served cold in a champagne glass. Made from 100% fully ripened Kishu Nanko Plum, this sophisticated rose sake is coloured by natural red basil. Both the hue and taste go superbly with Salmon Tempura Maki, in which deep fried tempura salmon maki rolls are served with wasabi mayonnaise, avocado dip and mizuna leaves, drizzled with sesame ginger dressing.

Moving onto the third mouthwatering course, the Ozeki Yamada Nishiki Sake is presented cold in a traditional shot glass. Boasting the rich aroma of the finest Yamadanishiki rice, the natural full bodied flavour of this sake brings out the bold eastern tastes of Maguro Tuna Sashimi with daikon radish, scallion, soy sauce and fresh shark fin grated wasabi.

The fourth course comprises a cold Ozeki Taru Sake in a wooden sake glass, offering a mild taste with hints of cedar and a woody aroma to match the grilled flavours of Teppanyaki cuisine. For this culinary highlight, guests are entertained by a live cooking spectacle at each table, as highly trained chefs slice, dice and juggle with masterful precision. Seafood delights of tiger prawn and butterfish sizzle before guests’ eyes, as well as tender cuts of Kurobuta pork, and beef tenderloin cooked precisely to each individual’s liking, accompanied by a side dish of garlic fried rice.

The grand finale indulges diners’ taste buds with the Ikezo Sparkling Jelly Sake, characterised by sweet fruity flavours and refreshing acidity. Served in a champagne glass with fruit, guests sip this dessert-like sake whilst tantalising their sweet tooth even further with a Banana Tempura sprinkled with powder sugar and toasted peanuts.

Designed in bold, contemporary Japanese style, Benihana strikes the perfect ambience for this gourmet food and sake pairing journey. While a central sake shack displays an encased traditional Japanese dress and highlights the extensive sake selections.
