Jetstar is celebrating the holiday season with new services for Thailand and the arrival of Jetstar’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner to its schedule to the Land of Smiles.

Jetstar Airways’ first non-stop flight between Phuket and Melbourne, took off on 14 December, marking the start of the first direct low cost carrier service for travellers between the two destinations.

The direct flights between Phuket and Melbourne will operate every Saturday and Sunday with a third weekly service to be introduced from 1 April 2014.

Also in time for the holiday season is an expanded schedule from Singapore to Thailand. In July, Jetstar Asia announced increased capacity on flights to Bangkok over this holiday season, with up to five daily flights. This represents the largest schedule Jetstar Asia has had on offer between the two cities.

“Thailand is strategically one of the most important destinations in our network, and this is reflected in both Jetstar Asia’s and Jetstar Airways’ continued capacity groth in the region,” Jetstar Asia CEO Bara Pasupathi said.

“This year alone, Jetstar Asia has welcomed 30 per cent more passengers between Singapore and Bangkok compared to just two years ago” he said.

Besides more choices of services, Thai and Australian travellers can also look forward to flying on Jetstar’s Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the Phuket – Sydney route from 3 February 2014.

Jetstar will welcome its first 787 into its international operation this week with the airline’s second state-of-the-art aircraft entering onto the Phuket route shortly after.

Jetstar is the first LCC in the Asia-Pacific region and one of only a few LCCs in the world to invest in flying the aircraft which is the most innovative and fuel efficient of its type.

The 787 burns 20 per cent less fuel, has much larger windows and has extra humidity in the cabin providing additional comfort and reducing the impact of jetlag.

Jetstar’s 787 is seat configured in two classes with 21 in business class and 314 seats in economy with back of seat in-flight entertainment
