Bangkok also climbed the ranks of Japanese top overseas destinations
When it comes to Thai travelers, it is no secret that one of their favorite overseas destination is Japan. The latest Hotel Price Index™ (HPI™) from Hotels.com™ revealed that Japanese destinations rose up ranks of Thai's top overseas destinations in the first half of 2015. The report showed four Japanese cities in Thai's top 20 overseas destinations.
Japan has always been a popular destination for Thais, home to the top international destination for four consecutive years from 2012 – 2015, according to the HPI report. Tokyo is not the only Japanese city that Thais favor. Osaka was on the Top 5 list of Thai's favorite overseas destinations for a second year in a row. In the first half of 201, Osaka was Thai traveller's 4th desired overseas destination. This year, Osaka leaped two spots up to the 2ndplace, right after Tokyo. Making Thai travellers' top two overseas destinations in the land of the rising sun. Sapporo was another Japanese city that climbed the ranks, from 16th place in 2014 to 11th in 2015. Fukuoka entered the rankings for the first time, placing 15th in popularity. The country was made more accessible to Thais ever since the lifting of visa restrictions in 2013.
On the other hand, a destination in Thailand also proves its popularity among Japanese travellers. Bangkok ranked 5th among Japanese's favorite overseas destinations in the first half of 2014. This year, Bangkok jumped up three positions up to Japanese travellers' second-favorite overseas destination, as Osaka did for Thai travelers.
