Thailand boosting domestic tourism during Thai New Year with special flash sale

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is joining hands with the Thai Hotels Association (THA), the Association of Domestic Thailand (ADT), the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), and the Thai Tourism Promotion Association (TTPA) in organising a four-hour 'flash sale' activity to boost domestic travel during the Thai New Year.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, "TAT in cooperation with relevant domestic travel associations as well as the Thai tourism product and services providers is organising this special activity with an objective of encouraging more Thais to travel within Thailand during the Songkran festival or the Thai New Year. This is also in response to the Royal Thai Government's policy which wants to promote domestic travel and stimulate more spending to help boost up local economy."

The four-hour flash sale will boast special deals and steep discounts on accommodation packages, theme park tickets, and other travel-related services from more than 30 travel-related product and service providers, such as, Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket Hotel, InterContinental Hua Hin Resort, Sampran Riverside, Siam Niramit, Siam Park and Oasis Sea World.

The special privileges are to stimulate Thai travellers to travel within Thailand during the Thai New Year holiday, which this year covers at least five days fromWednesday 13 April to Sunday 17 April. For those who take extra days off, fromSaturday 9 April, their holiday could stretch to nearly 10 days.

Apart from receiving steep discounts instantly from leading travel service providers during the flash sale, there is a double bonus for Thais who travel within Thailand during 9-17 April, 2016. Receipts of domestic travel spending during this period can be used for the 2016 tax redemption.

The special four-hour flash sale will be held on 5 April, 2016, from 11:00 – 15:00Hrs., at Quartier Park, in front of EmQuartier department store, which can be reached by BTS SkyTrain (get down at Phrom Pong station, Exit 1). The sale is open to all, including foreign expatriates and visitors.
