The festivities will kickoff at the Loy Krathong Bar, where associates and guests alike will gather for a celebratory religious session, followed by a water blessing ritual at the Poolside Garden. The pouring of fragrant water over the hands of elders is a symbol of paying respect and washing away bad luck for the New Year. The activities continue with a long drum parade, water war, a boxing performance and a Miss Songkran Contest.
XANA Beach Club will host the two event highlights - "Shower from the Tower', a water fight with plenty of foam to cool down in the summer heat, and a DJ party featuring the Winner of Pioneer Pro DJ Lady Championship 2010 - DJ Roxy June ,the Princess of House Music from Thailand and resident DJ Viki Love.
The word Songkran means "a move or change in the astrological position of the sun" symbolised by the sprinkling of water and hand cleansing for good luck in the New Year. Taking place during the hottest period of the year, Songkran is a fun way to cool off. After the traditional water pouring ceremony, also known as Rod Nahm Dum Hua, the water throwing commences! In recent times, the ceremony has evolved into spontaneous water fights all over Thailand.
"By showcasing the traditional Thai way of life, with its colourful and vibrant festivities, we hope to provide our guests with lasting memories" said Brian Connelly, General Manager of Angsana Laguna Phuket.
