Bangkok--14 Jun--Sala Hospitality
sala signature half-day bike tours designed for guests at sala rattanakosin Bangkok, sala ayutthaya, and sala lanna Chiang Mai

Designed with the traveller in mind, sala boutique's new private half-day guided bike tours offer guests the opportunity to unearth lesser-known treasures of each destination. The move follows the hospitality group's recent efforts to bring guests closer to the locale of each hotel, allowing them to discover the cultural and culinary nuances that surround them. Bangkok Hidden Treasures, offered through sala rattanakosin Bangkok, introduces guests to a lesser-known side of historic Thonburi district, the heart of ancient capital of Thailand located across the river from sala rattanakosin Bangkok. The guided bike ride offers a glimpse inside small communities near Wat Arun, and through a tri-cultural neighbourhood. When the timing is right, a visit to a canal-side Artist's House also allows guests to enjoy a traditional Thai puppet show and guests later have the chance to explore canal-side communities in a long-tail boat.

An hour upstream at sala ayutthaya, the ancient capital of ayutthaya still holds many intriguing experiences, many of them uncovered on the Ayutthaya Hidden Treasures bike tour, which explores the southern edge of what was once one of the largest urban areas in the world. The half-day tour commences with a river crossing by ferry to a local temple before visits to historical sites, including the most impressive monuments and royal monuments in the city's UNESCO World Heritage heart. The route continues to a traditional Thai-style house that was immortalised in a famous Thai literary work.

The northern city of Chiang Mai is also steeped in culture. The Chiang Mai Hidden Treasures tour invites guests to tread lightly through local communities and includes visits to traditional temples and ancient ruins; the route also stops off at a former leper colony, and a small pottery where visitors have the chance to watch craftsmen in action. A scenic ride along the Ping River takes in at a local bakery and a market before arriving back at sala lanna Chiang Mai.

Each Hidden Treasures tour lasts between 4 and 5 hours; all tours use high quality mountain bikes and helmets, with professional English speaking guides, traditional Thai snacks and refreshments, and insurance.

Other visits – including trips to floating markets in Bangkok on weekends and join-in tour options – can also be arranged with sala's bike tour partner, who is happy to curate customised trips depending on guests' specific requests and needs.

"We are excited to be rolling out a series of experiences in the coming months which allow our guests the chance to delve deeper into the destinations and become as fascinated by each city as we are," said Nicolas Reschke, group director of business development, SALA Hospitality Group.

"The Hidden Treasures bike tours are part of our sala signature experiences that act as windows into the destinations," he adds.

As part of the Hidden Treasures bike tours launch, SALA Hospitality Group will be posting three photos on their Facebook page through July 2017, depicting cultural highlights which the bike tours uncover. Followers able to identity all three places can email the answers to mktco@salahospitality.com and be in the running for a three-night stay for up to three guests at sala rattanakosin Bangkok, sala ayutthaya, or sala lanna Chiang Mai.
