Bangkok--6 Jul--Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien
Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien has won an International Hotels Award for being one of the best sustainable hotels in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Being singled out for an International Hotel Award for sustainability is a special honour for Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien Hotel because it testifies to how much our guests, the most important critics of all, appreciate the extra effort we make," said ChooLeng Goh, the hotel's General Manager.

Developed to identify, highlight and reward excellence throughout the global hospitality industry, the International Hotel Awards seek the finest operations in a wide range of areas. Requiring rigorous testing of the key quality and service requirements to identify hotels that reach the highest standards, the awards are a mark of achievement for the world's finest hotels.

Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien was the first hotel in the world to achieve ISO 20121 certification for planning and delivering sustainable events and passed the stringent recertification in 2016. The hotel has also adopted a policy of supporting Thai farming communities and the environment by only serving certified organic rice they produce. The hotel has also implemented extensive measures to conserve energy and water consumption, from installing LED lighting throughout to using recycled water for toilet flushing.
