PTT Welcomed Japanese Investors for EECi Site Visit at Wangchan Valley

Promote Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi) and attract foreign investments to reinforce Thai government's policy, transforming the country into Thailand 4.0

On 12 September 2017, Mr. Tevin Vongvanich, President and Chief Executive Officer of PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) met with H.E. Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and his accompanying persons to discuss about investment opportunities in the EECi. Today (13 September 2017), Mr. Pailin Chuchotethavorn, Chairman of KVIS Executive Board and VISTEC Council along with PTT executives led a group of 90 investors from leading companies in Japan on a tour to Wangchan Valley, Rayong where PTT and National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology, jointly develop the area into Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi). In accordance with Thailand 4.0 sustainable development's policy, the EECi project aims to foster innovative collaboration between public, private, research and academic sectors both inside and outside the country, transforming Thailand into the nation of Innovation and enhance industrial competitiveness as well as improve local people's quality of life.

To develop a comprehensive innovation ecosystem, PTT had a basic infrastructure ready on this 3,434 rais at Wangchan Valley, Pa Yup Nai, Wang Chan, Rayong. The strategic objectives of EECi project are to build a hub of industrial research and innovation which can be extended in commercial terms, enable domestic and international technology transfer, develop human resources with requisite skills (science, technology, and innovation) necessary to support the structural reformation of Thai industry into innovation-driven economy. The target technological and industry groups of EECi comprise Research and Innovation Center of Automation, Robotic and Intelligent System (ARIPOLIS), Research and Innovation Center of Bio-science and Bio-technology (BIOPOLIS), and Research and Innovation Center of Space Technology and Geo-informatics (SPACE KRENOVAPOLIS). Additionally, the internationally renowned educational institutions which are specialized in science, technology, and innovation namely Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) and Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) are established in Wangchan Valley.

Technology and innovation will play an important role in enhancing quality of life and lead the future sustainable development of the nation", Mr. Tevin said.
