PTT-Community Enterprises-Cafe Amazon work hand in hand to establish social enterprise of coffee bean business

An innovative venture on building a sustainability by means of self sufficiency, clloaboration and business solution that assist communities's business to grow safe and sound.

Mr.Sarun Rungkasiri, Chief Operating Officer, Downstream Petroleum Business Group, PTT Public Company Limited presided over the MOU signing ceremony on collaboration agreement of buying & selling raw coffee beans that is produced by natural conservation system. It is a work collaboration between PTT agencies of Cafe Amazon and Sarn Palang Social Enterprise Company Limited and the community enterprises of Pangkhon Coffee and Akha Coffee. The event was held at Ban Pangkhon, Huai Chomphu of Chiang Rai province. This collaboration included the development of planting coffee tree and producing coffee bean, raw coffee beans procurement, exploration of distribution opportunity and self-development participation that encourages local employment.

Mr.Sarun Rungkasiri said that PTT has focused on sustainable development, currently in social enterprise by using PTT's knowledge sharing to support business of community. Cafe Amazon, a non-oil establishment of PTT, is fit to serve as basis for coffee business of the communities with process & service facility, AICA at Wang Noi district, Ayutthaya province which has a capacity to roast coffee beans 2,700 tons per year and 1,800 Cafe Amazon shops nationwide. This is a great opportunity to work in corelation with communities in purchasing and developing coffee beans in a sustainable way. This MOU will lead to a social advantage by improving quality of life through stable income from coffee beans purchasing agreement with Cafe Amazon and knowledge received can be adapted for cultivating and producing coffee beans. A strong community ties with self-sufficeincy foundation will aid in living with nature.

Moreover, Sarn Palang Social Enterprise Company Limited has involved in other social enterprise projects such as Cafe Amazon for handicapped people and a day care devolpment center for pre-school children that builds careers and provides a sustainable income for housekeepers. These development helps improve quality of life and make PTT pround to be a Pride and Treaser of Thailand." Mr.Sarun closed the dialog.
