Crystal Lagoons, the water innovation multinational company widely regarded as the "World's Top Amenity", closed 2016 with over 600 projects in different development and negotiation stages in 60 countries. This figure represents an increase of 50% when compared to the 400 projects the company had back at the beginning of the same year. In addition, the company has managed to successfully patent-protect its novel technology in 190 countries during the same period of time. The latter represents a rise of nearly 36%, bearing in mind that the company started 2016 with 160 patents.

In Asia, Crystal Lagoons continues to add value and assure successful properties with 20 projects currently in various stages of development. Currently, there are two projects already in operation, which are the "Bintan Treasure Bay" in Indonesia, and another project in Hua Hin, Thailand.

During 2017, the company plans to sign two projects in Thailand, South Korea and Malaysia and three projects in Vietnam and one in Indonesia at least.

In regards to Thailand, Crystal Lagoon's Regional Director for Southeast Asia, Jaime Rivera stated "Crystal Lagoons has confirmed its interest in the country, projecting 15 developments in the next 3 years - representing US$ 2 billion of investment - in cities such as Bangkok, Phuket, Chonburi and Satthip".

In Latin America, Crystal Lagoons boasts 87 projects in different development stages, with an overall investment of US$12.5 million. There are 28 projects in Chile, 11 in Argentina, another five in Peru and many other in Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panamá and the Dominican Republic.

Worldwide, some of Crystal Lagoons' most outstanding developments announced during 2016 are: Botanica in Australia, Bayside in the United States, Stella Di Mare and Il Monte Galala-Sokhna, both in Egypt. The latter developments, both located in Africa, will have six amazing crystal-clear lagoons and together they will form a total area of four hectares, in addition to three Km of white sandy beaches that will become part of the landscape.

Crystal Lagoons is the only company in the world that offers the technology to develop giant and economically feasible crystal-clear lagoons, suitable for swimming and water sports. These vast water bodies are essential amenities for real estate and touristic projects all over the world, as they add differential value and have therefore positively disrupted real estate industries worldwide.

The company has also developed an ultrasound filtration system, which uses less than 2% of the energy required by traditional filtration systems, half of the water needed by a park, and 30 times less water than a golf course. Also, crystal-clear lagoons can use any type of water: fresh, sea water, or brackish. They can also use water from underground aquifers in deserts, a type of water that previously didn't have any other alternative use. Crystal Lagoons' technology is sustainable and makes an efficient use of water.

Up until now, the company has held the Guinness World Record for the World's largest manmade lagoon twice. First with San Alfonso del Mar, in Chile, and now with the 12,5-hectare lagoon at Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, the current largest manmade lagoon in the world.
