Sansiri UNICEF reaffirm their commitment to children worldwide for 7th consecutive year

(Caption) Mr. Kovit Poshyananda (2nd left), Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Mr. Apichart Chutrakul (1st left), Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors & CEO, of Sansiri Public Company Limited, join Mr. Thomas Davin (3rd left), Representative for UNICEF Thailand and Ms. Valerie Taton (right), Deputy Representative for UNICEF Thailand, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to reaffirm their commitment to working together to protect and promote the rights of children in Thailand and across the world. The MOU was signed on 23rd April 2017 at the office of Sansiri Public Company Limited.

Sansiri PLC and UNICEF Thailand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to reaffirm their commitment to working together for the promotion and protection of the rights of children in Thailand and across the world for the next three years, from 2017 to 2019.

Sansiri and UNICEF will continue their work together to improve the well-being of migrant children with "Safety Zones for Children" established at every Sansiri construction site, providing safe spaces for the children of construction workers to learn and play. Sansiri will continue to operate its businesses in a children-friendly manner and is committed to its role as a champion for children in the private sector, advocating with other companies to do the same.

Sansiri will contribute one million US dollars per year to UNICEF's Global Emergency Fund – a contribution that the company has made every year since 2011. The funds will provide lifesaving humanitarian assistance and support for children whose lives have been shattered by devastating conflicts and natural disasters. Recent examples include the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, and the ongoing crises facing millions of children in Syria and Iraq.

The cooperation between Sansiri and UNICEF began in 2010 and has, over the years, transformed into a unique and multifaceted partnership. Sansiri has supported child rights not only by contributing resources, but also by lending critical knowledge, expertise, and influence to achieve real and positive change in the lives of children.

Other successes of the partnership have included advocacy resulting in legislation for iodine – a critical component of every child's nutritional needs – to be infused into all forms of table salt, and a high-profile public campaign calling for increased investment in early childhood development, and raising public awareness of the importance of the first months and years of a child's life.

Sansiri's commitment to child rights and concrete action have become an example in the private sector. It is an example that UNICEF looks forward to seeing other companies follow.
