Thai Gypsum Products Public Company Limited, the first gypsum manufacturer in Thailand and innovator of the leading brand "Gyproc", emphasizes its strategy to be the premier innovation & solutions provider with a recent architect's seminar. This latest program was devised to challenge a traditional notion, that gypsum plasterboard products are not the best solution for use in wet areas or where water-proofing or antibacterial properties are required. The aim of the program was also to allow architects to develop a strong understanding of the complete range of Gyproc plasterboard products for wet areas, and also strengthen relationships with the brand among architects in the construction and design business of Thailand.

The new innovation of Gyproc plasterboard products for wet areas aims to overwhelm convention and traditional perceptions towards gypsum products that gypsum wall can't prevent moisture transfers as it is not watertight. Many customers believe brick and cement are the best solutions for wet areas. Gyproc blows this notion out of the water with moisture-resistant product solutions that meet all needs of installers and provide the best quality modern living for homeowners. This innovation proves that Gyproc walls are designed with excellent materials to deliver premium performance, with increased protection against the absorption and infiltration of moisture, and/or enhanced resistance to the growth of mildew and mould.

Richard Juggery, Managing Director, Thai Gypsum Products Public Company Limited, said, "Creating meaningful innovations within Saint-Gobain Group, Gyproc's parent company, relies on a research strategy equally rooted in innovation and consumer insights. We apply the best in science to improve health and wellness for people around the world. Gyproc develops products in a wide variety of categories, including this gypsum board for drywall installed in wet areas. Realizing key requirements of product usage in wet and high-humidity areas of residential or commercial buildings, there is a risk from health-threatening fungus, so our product strategy includes surface water penetration resistance, and support for different format of tiles and cleaning methodologies whether dry, wet, water pressure and hot steam cleaning."

Wet and high-humidity areas are classified according to their level of potential in-service water damage; high risk areas include the shower area, kitchens, spas and also wall and ceiling installations around swimming pool areas. Low risk areas include public toilets (without shower), laundries, gyms and locker rooms. Richard says, "We are pleased to be able to present our health-conscious, cost-conscious solutions to this problem. We would like to thank all of the architects who joined our New Plasterboard Generation for Wet Areas seminar and we hope to host similar events very soon."

Gyproc products meet all customer usage demands, whether installing plasterboard in wet areas such as bathroom, laundry areas, spas, gyms, hospitals, or locker room areas in a school. Gyproc® Glasroc H OCEAN offer anti-absorption, anti-infiltration of moisture, and fights the growth of mildew and mould without a waterproofing system. The product incorporates GRG technology (Glass Fiber Reinforced Composite) using pre-coated glass mats on the surface of the board instead of paper liners normally used on plasterboards to provide enhanced moisture and mould resistance.

Besides wet areas, the innovation of Gyproc plasterboard also covers dry areas where there is a risk of mold such as in the bathroom, kitchen, hospital, etc. Gyproc® M2TECH is a high performance board formulated with biocide and other additives in its core, enclosed with recycled green face paper, for applications where enhanced moisture and mould resistance is required. The boards achieve scores of 10 and 0 as per ASTM D3273 and ASTM G2 respectively, the best possible scores for these tests. Gyproc® Moisture Resistant consists of an aerated gypsum core with water repellent additives encased in, and firmly bonded to, strong moisture resistant paper liners that are green in colour. Gyproc MR is a plasterboard that is suitable for drylining internal surfaces such as bathrooms, kitchens, hospitals, lockers in schools and more.
